The annual CAFÉ Leadership Conference has a full day (of the 2 ½ day schedule) devoted to educational best practices.
After a keynote by Dr. Fred Mayo, attendees will choose a series of three different workshops throughout the day.
Here are two of the ten breakout sessions!!
In this workshop you will eat chocolate chip cookies! AND you will discuss all the culinary applications that can be taught using, for example, a chocolate chip cookie: science, math, functions of ingredients, yield, costing, etc..
Join Chef Angela Wilson, MSED, CEPC, CCE from Delgado Community College in this one-hour presentation on Friday, June 24, in Portland, Maine.
Kenneth Goldberg from Culinary Econometrics will discuss SmartReads digital learning materials which provide students with concise content they can read on any device with links to additional open-source resources. Attendees of this workshop will view portions of existing SmartReads and participate by using examples of instructor in-class exercises and case studies.

MASTER CLASSES IN CHOCOLATE!
Guittard Chocolate will be at the CAFÉ conference again this year! What’s new? The morning session will be focusing on chocolate basics. The afternoon session will focus on more advanced skills. Chef Josh from Guittard Chocolate Company will be working with you in the pastry kitchen at Southern Maine Community College. You can sign up for one or both of the classes held on June 22, 2022.
