CAFE Update August 15, 2018

30 August 2018

It's a New Year

Welcome back to the first semester of 2018/19! I hope that you had a terrific summer and are eager to share your wisdom and your stories with your students!

We had an outstanding Leadership Conference in June hosted by Milwaukee Area Technical College. You can see some of the photos by clicking here.

The master classes, hosted by the James Beard Foundation, Guittard Chocolate, and the National Pork Board were well received and continue to be a highlight of the conference. New this year were trends presentations by our industry partners with numerous topics that help our instructors keep ahead of the curve.

Maeve Webster did our Keynote on Trends in the Industry and our Keynote on our educational best practices day focused on the new curriculum developed by the James Beard Foundation on reducing waste in restaurant kitchens. Numerous attendees signed up for the pilot program offered by JBF as part of their curriculum for this year. Our August issues of The Gold Medal Classroom has more details on this opportunity.

For more details about the conference, check out our website. And put the 2019 dates on your calendar: June 20-22 in Charlotte, North Carolina!
