LOOKING FORWARD TO 2023!

Greetings from the CAFÉ office! We started out the summer with a great combination of professional development opportunities and are now hoping to get on your calendar for 2023!

The focus/mission statement of CAFÉ is to link the foodservice industry with the foodservice classroom. That is what we do; that is what we are meant to do.

Keeping that in mind, we have the following programs and offerings for you:

As Culinary/Baking/Pastry/Hospitality educators, we are sure that you and your fellow instructors can benefit from using some if not all of CAFÉ’s resources to continue your efforts in developing master students!


IPC Seal webThanks to Idaho Potato Commission for sponsoring the Educator of the Year Award for 2023! This Award is open to secondary and postsecondary educators as well as culinary educators working within the non-profit training sector. There will be two cash awards given in addition to a complimentary registration to the 2023 CAFÉ Leadership Conference in June 2023 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Deadline for the Award Application is April 1, 2023. Winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2023 and will each receive $1,000. Thank you to Idaho Potato Commission for their ongoing support of culinary educators!

Specific documentation that is suggested/required is available on the CAFÉ website 

  • Contact Information including name, address, school, email, and phone. (See Application Cover Sheet provided)
  • Provide evidence of the educator’s professional commitment to the educational community and foodservice industry which might include school committee work, professional networking, and community involvement.
  • Include a resume with the application.
  • Provide descriptions of ongoing professional development in both instructional and technical skills in the last few years.
  • Describe overall evidence that the educator has proven leadership in his/her profession; examples may include peer reviews, student evaluations, letters of recommendation, certificates and honors received, etc.
  • Include with these materials that you are giving permission to use any of the information submitted in publicity about the Award.

Deadline to submit is April 1, 2023.

2022 CAFÉ CONFERENCE PHOTOS:

CAFÉ’s annual Deans & Directors Retreat and Leadership Conference was held in Portland, Maine on June 22-24, 2022 and was hosted by Southern Maine Community College.
