CAFÉ Update February 19, 2024

19 February 2024

Linking the Foodservice Industry with the Foodservice Classroom

CAFÉ’s mission statement has at its goal to link the foodservice industry with the foodservice classroom. The yearly conferences seek to further your knowledge as both a chef and an educator.

One day of the CAFÉ Leadership Conference is devoted to foodservice trends. Attendees will hear from experts in their fields of commodities used in every menu culinary students come in touch with.

Another day of the conference is all about peer presentations on educational best practices. New ideas; new ways of teaching; new examples of success training students.

Attendees of the conference will enjoy keynoters on a variety of topics ranging from artificial intelligence, industry challenges and educational goals.

The conference has an InfoFair where materials from industry partners are shared as well as a reception, lunches, and opportunities for hands on mater classes. And most importantly, attendees will have the opportunity to network with culinary educators from around the U.S.

For more information or to register for the conference go to cafemeetingplace.com/cafe-events.

Food for Thought 1 1

CAFÉ is helping educators create a CHANGE MINDSET in culinary education. Care to share? In conjunction with GMC’s story “Discovering a Willingness to Motive and Change,” we asked readers to post their wisdom and experience. Look at Instagram or Facebook for these questions:

  1. How do you create a culture of change in your program?
  2. How can you engage your colleagues in change?
  3. What tactics do you use to connect with students and has it changed?
  4. What tactics do you use to motivate students and has it changed?

Answer in comments and don’t forget to put the number of the question you are answering. GMC will share the insight in the March edition.

Let’s keep the conversation going!
