Sullivan University Students Win Awards at ACF Chefs Competition in Indianapolis
Sullivan University’s Louisville campus and the National Center for Hospitality Studies congratulate associate department chair of culinary arts chef Rob Beighey and director of baking and pastry arts chef Derek Spendlove and team coach chef David Wheatley on their most recent victory at the American Culinary Federation Chefs Competition in Indianapolis.
A student team comprised of both culinary-arts and baking-and-pastry-arts programs competed in the event Sept. 27-28. Students participated in baking-and-pastry competitions and hot-foods competitions. Sullivan University earned a total of nine medals and one certificate of completion. Kendall Knies deserves special recognition, having walked away with a gold medal. The school’s newest Training Within Industry (TWI) student, Lagena Boggs, earned a silver medal. The TWI program is a work-experience program for active military officers.
